SOUTH FULTON, GA — An overnight SWAT standoff in the city of South Fulton ended with a suspect found dead inside a home.

Police responded to a home on Flat Shoals Road near Candler Road after a woman reported that she had been shot by her husband.

Officers say Eric Bates began firing at them when they arrived before running back inside the home.

Police attempted to contact Bates for several hours before entering the home, where they found him dead.

The woman who called police is being treated for a gunshot wound to the leg.

No officers were injured.
