ATLANTA — A serious crash involving a motorcycle and a car is causing major traffic problems along Moreland Avenue in southeast Atlanta Tuesday morning.
The crash happened around 7:20 a.m. at the intersection of Moreland Avenue and McDonough Boulevard.
A motorcycle at the scene was badly damaged, while a car appeared to have crashed onto a concrete median. Atlanta police, Atlanta Fire Rescue, DeKalb fire crews and Grady ambulances responded to the scene.
Police have set up crime scene tape around the intersection as the investigation continues.
An ambulance carrying a victim from the crash received a police escort along Moreland Avenue to I-20 and then to Grady Memorial Hospital.
Traffic remains heavily impacted in the area. As of shortly after 8 a.m., southbound Moreland Avenue remained blocked at McDonough Boulevard, while traffic was able to move through one northbound lane.
GDOT estimated the scene could remain active until around 9:30 a.m.
No additional information about the crash or the extent of the victim’s injuries has not been released yet.
