Police offer $2k reward for info on who killed 18-year-old GA football player at graduation party

THOMASTON, Ga. — Police are offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person who shot and killed an 18-year-old Georgia football player at a graduation party last year.

Thomaston police said someone started shooting at the Main Event Center on May 28, 2022. Police found three people with gunshot wounds. One of those victims, later identified as 18-year-old Akeem Ellison, died at the hospital.

A second teenager, a 17-year-old from Manchester, was airlifted to a hospital for treatment. A 15-year-old from Thomaston was also taken to the hospital for treatment.

Investigators say they believe the shooting stemmed from a fight inside the event center, but there were so many people at the party that they have been unable to identify the shooter.

Ellison was a 2022 graduate of Manchester High School and played on the high school football team.

Police are now offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the shooter. Anyone with such information is asked to call Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME (27463).
