WSB Radio spoke to Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman Sunday morning. Chapman said that William Parrott was shot and killed by one of his deputies Saturday night after Parrott had threatened to hit them with a sledgehammer.

Chapman said his deputies were dispatched to a convenience store on Highway 81 near Loganville after reports of someone crashing into cars in the parking lot. That was when they encountered Parrott. Chapman said deputies were familiar with Parrott but did not say how they knew him.

Chapman also said Wrightsville police had notified them Parrott might be in the area. Officers told him that they believed Parrott had gone to his father in Wrightsville and beat him to death.

After the attack on his father, investigators believe Parrott drove to his mother’s home in a Loganville trailer park, where they think he attacked and killed her.

Investigators believe Parrott then drove to the convenience store.
