ATLANTA — A pet insurance company is warning pet owners that marijuana and pets don’t mix on 4/20.
Trupanion says it has handled nearly 3,400 claims for pets with health issues related to marijuana toxicity since 2020, including 27 cases in Georgia.
The company says treatment for marijuana-related illnesses in pets can cost as much as $800.
According to Trupanion, signs that dogs and cats may have ingested marijuana include lack of energy, hyperactivity and neurological issues.
