PAULDING COUNTY, GA — The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office unveiled a new fallen deputy’s memorial Monday, marking two years since Deputy Brandon Cunningham was killed in the line of duty.
Cunningham is the first and only Paulding County deputy to die in the line of duty. He had served with the sheriff’s office for more than four years when he was killed.
Cunningham was shot and killed in an ambush while responding to a domestic dispute in Hiram two years ago.
Paulding County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Jordan Yuodis says the new memorial honors Cunningham’s life, service and ultimate sacrifice.
Last year, Cunningham’s name was added to the National Fallen Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C.
The intersection of Highways 92 and 120 was also named the Deputy Brandon Cunningham Memorial Intersection last year.
