ATLANTA — One of the two victims who died at Ole Miss on Monday has been confirmed to be 20-year-old Robert Strang, a junior from Atlanta. The other victim is 18-year-old Aidan Hamilton, a freshman from Englewood, CO. There is no confirmed connection between the two victims.

The police are investigating the causes of death. They have not confirmed the deaths are connected to Kratom or other substances, but the Lafayette County Metro Narcotics Unit has warned people to avoid Kratom.

Kratom is an herbal extract that can act as a stimulant or sedative, depending on the dosage. The city of Oxford banned the sale of synthetic Kratom in 2019 and Lafayette County did the same in 2021.
