A shooting at an apartment complex near Riverdale has left one person dead, according to Clayton County police.

The shooting happened at the Garden Wood apartments off Garden Walk Blvd., around 10:30 a.m., and residents say it is the latest in a string of violent incidents at the complex.

"This is making me want to move," said Varita Davis.  She lives in the apartment just above the shooting scene and has lived at the complex just two months.

Police have not yet released details on what happened, but AJC photographer John Spink said bullet holes could be seen in the window of one of the apartments.

Davis said she knows of past incidents, but has been reluctant to call police.  "I don't want anyone coming back to my doorstep .. you've got to be protective of yourself," she said.
