Jail nurse arrested after allegedly giving drugs to inmate she was romantically involved with

FULTON COUNTY, GA — A contract nurse at the Fulton County Jail has been arrested after authorities say she gave prescription medication to an inmate who did not have an active prescription or medical order for it.

Fulton County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 36-year-old Shakimia Johnson following an investigation into the incident.

The Sheriff’s Office says Johnson gave the medication last week to inmate Caleb Sims, with whom authorities say she had a previously undisclosed romantic relationship.

Authorities say Johnson admitted to hand-delivering the medication to Sims despite him not having a prescription or medical order for it.

Johnson is facing a felony charge and is being held on a $10,000 bond.
