NORCROSS, GA — Drivers in Norcross could see some delays starting Monday as the city begins the next phase of a nearly $1.8 million resurfacing project.

A total of 19 streets will receive new pavement during the project, with work beginning on Ruth Street, Buchanan Street and Freeman Circle.

“Ruth Street, Buchanan Street, Freeman Circle, and then there are 19 streets that are being resurfaced,” the city’s Julie Brechbill said.

Crews are expected to complete most of the work during daylight hours. Brechbill said work will typically begin after the morning rush hour and crews will try to finish before the afternoon commute.

“They start around after rush hour, so they will probably start around 9:00,” Brechbill said.

The resurfacing project is expected to take a couple of months, with work continuing through late October or early November. Breckbill said the timeline will depend on the weather.

“And of course it depends on weather, if we have rain that’s going to delay things a little bit, but we’re just trying to give folks an idea of hey this is when this is going to start,” Brechbill said.

“It’s going to take us a couple of months to do the work for those 19 streets,” she added.

As crews begin working across the city, Brechbill is asking drivers to be patient.

“Just be patient with us some, we’re going to work to get this done as quickly as we can.”
