ATLANTA — New research shows that Atlanta’s eviction rate has climbed to three times the national average.

Princeton University data shows that about 31,000 of the five-county region’s recent eviction filings occurred within city limits.

Local housing metrics indicate this accounts for roughly one filing for every four renter households in the city, with one eviction filing for every 25 renter households, officials add.

The research also show stark demographic disparities, with 60% of minority households being impacted.

Housing advocates and legal aid organizations have previously urged local leaders to address the accelerating displacement.
