GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — Some Gwinnett County families will get help paying for after-school programs through a new $45,000 grant.
The Gwinnett County Commission accepted the grant from the Georgia Recreation and Park Association to reduce weekly participation fees for families at three elementary schools.
“Funding will be used to reduce weekly participation fees for families at Meadowcreek Elementary School, Lawrenceville Elementary Schools, and Jenkins Elementary Schools. Gwinnett Community Services Director Lindsey Jorstad said.
The three schools are considered high-need sites, with an average of more than 86% of students receiving free and reduced lunch.
Jorstad says the funding should also expand access to other after-school programs.
