CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA — An investigation is underway after two people were injured in a stabbing incident at a metro Atlanta restaurant on Thursday afternoon.
Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported stabbing at a Chick-fil-A on Highway 92 near Interstate 75 around 2:30 p.m.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office says preliminary information indicates a domestic dispute between a mother and daughter happened in the restaurant parking lot. Both women were injured.
The mother ran inside the restaurant, where Acworth police officers were already present and helped until an ambulance arrived, officials said. She was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.
The daughter left the scene with two children in her vehicle and drove north on I-75.
Deputies used automated license plate reader technology to track her and communicated with law enforcement in North Georgia, who stopped her in Whitfield County. The children were not injured, officials said.
The investigation is ongoing.
