ATLANTA — Construction is underway on a new $147 million student housing development that will provide additional housing options for juniors and seniors attending Morehouse and Spelman colleges.

The development, called “The Den at 850 West,” will add 793 beds for students at the two Historically Black Colleges in Atlanta.

Located across from Morehouse’s football stadium, the complex will feature 305 apartment-style units, including studios and one, two, and four-bedroom apartments.

Students living at the development will have access to several amenities, including a 24-hour staffed lobby, outdoor recreational space, a fitness room, community lounges, study rooms and a dog run.

The project comes amid growing demand for student housing near the Atlanta University Center and at Historically Black Colleges and Universities across the country.

The Den at 850 West is expected to open in fall 2028.
