Metro Atlanta woman among thousands missing after flash floods in Nepal

CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA — Devastating flash floods in Nepal has left thousands of people missing, including a metro Atlanta woman.

Officials say Mary Sorensen, who lives in Cherokee County, traveled on a pilgrimage to Nepal earlier this month.

Her family has not heard from Sorensen since August 25, the day before flash floods and landslides impacted the area.

Officials say the death toll has risen to more than 900 with another 4,700 people missing.
