PAULDING COUNTY, GA — A flight instructor and a student pilot were rushed to the hospital after their small plane crashed in the western part of Paulding County.

Paulding County Sheriff Ashley Henson says the crash happened just east of the county airport.

“Luckily, our Paulding County fire team was here really quickly. Those men and women worked their tails off to get these two individuals out of the plane to a waiting ambulance,” Hensen said.

The two victims were able to call 911 themselves after the plane went down in the woods.

Both occupants were transported to a local area hospital with serious injures, Paulding County Fire Rescue officials said.

“Our units were rapidly searching the reported area within a few minutes of dispatch. Contact was first made at the wreckage around 12 minutes after initial dispatch,” Paulding County Fire Rescue officials said. “The plane was located deep in the woods, just east of our local airport.”

The NTSB is investigating the cause of the crash.
