DOUGLAS COUNTY, GA — A man accused of terrorizing a family at their Douglas County home nearly two years ago has been found guilty of murder and cruelty to children.

Prosecutors say Karlton Sirmons was the former boyfriend of someone who had moved into the home to escape his abuse.

Sirmons shot and killed one person and seriously wounded two others during the attack.

Both survivors testified during Sirmons’ trial.

Two young children were also inside the home during the shooting and hid under the covers of a bed.

Sirmons was found guilty of murder and cruelty to children.
