Man accused of killing off-duty Gwinnett County deputy denied bond

GWINNET COUNTY, GA — The man accused of killing an off-duty Gwinnett County deputy will remain behind bars without bond.

43-year-old Eric Sumner of Suwanee appeared in a Forsyth County courtroom Tuesday.

He’s charged with murder and aggravated assault with intent to murder.

He’s accused of killing Master Deputy Tamara Tuitt-Bartlett and injuring her teen son during a domestic incident.

Bartlett had been with the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office for nearly two decades.
