Loganville soldier wounded searching for Bergdahl

The wife of a Georgia National Guardsman from Loganville says he was gravely wounded searching for Bowe Bergdahl in 2009.

Sgt. First Class Mark Allen was shot in the head after just one month in Afghanistan.

Shannon Allen has taken to Facebook calling Bergdahl a traitor and blaming him for her husband’s injuries which left him paralyzed and unable to speak.

In one post, she shows a picture of herself and her young daughter standing next to her husband who is in a wheelchair saying: "Meet my husband, injuries directly brought to you by the actions of this traitor.  He can't give an account of what went down, because he can no longer speak.  Now, which guy is a 'hero' again?!? Sick."

Allen tells WSB’s Sandra Parrish she learned just this week from friends who served with her husband in the 48th Brigade Combat Team the circumstances surrounding his injury.

While she did not want to interviewed, others in Loganville are speaking out about the controversial trade of Bergdahl for five Taliban leaders held at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

“I feel really bad for him and I feel bad there were others that were affected also,” says Loeda Cassidy. “Now that this whole story is coming out, it’s really sad and it makes it even more puzzling why the President did this.”
