COVINGTON, GA — A district attorney finds a Covington police officer did not misuse Flock safety cameras to have his girlfriend’s ex arrested for DUI.
Newton County District Attorney Amber Dally says a GBI investigation of Sgt. Matt Holbrook shows his searches of the man’s car came after the woman believed she was being followed.
“He runs the license plate readers over the next few months,” Dally said. “Occasionally, her argument what she says her and Officer Holbrook have since broken up, what she says is that because he was trying to make sure that she was safe.”
Dally says none of the Flock searches was close to the date of the man’s DUI arrest.
Dally notes Holbrook’s occasional searches of the Green Corvette came only after the woman reported seeing her ex.
“From a criminal standpoint, I don’t believe the law was violated,” Dally said.
The woman’s ex boyfriend previously pleaded guilty to violence against her and has a protective order against him.
