ATLANTA — If you’re planning to fly during the holiday season, AAA says now may be the time to book your trip as rising fuel costs could push airfares higher.

Jet fuel prices have nearly doubled since the spring and are expected to continue climbing.

“With oil prices increasing, that raises the cost of producing gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel. So airfares have the potential to increase in the coming weeks and months, so if you’re planning on catching a holiday flight now might be the best time to book,” AAA’s Mark Jenkins said.
