ATLANTA — Heavy rainfall has led to flash flood warnings and hazardous driving conditions across metro Atlanta on Friday afternoon.

Flooding has forced the closure of the Interstate 285 westbound ramp to Interstate 85 southbound in Fulton County near Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

Standing water is also heavily impacting traffic on GA 400 southbound near Northridge Road in Sandy Springs.

Transportation officials are tracking additional reports of high water and localized street flooding as persistent storms move through the region.

Drivers are urged to avoid standing water, allow extra travel time, and seek alternate routes if commuting through affected areas this weekend.

Flash flood warnings remain in effect for multiple metro Atlanta counties, prompting warnings for motorists to exercise caution.

The severe weather also led to ground stops and departure delays at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport due to thunderstorms in the area.
