ATLANTA — Americans are planning to cut back on Halloween spending this year as concerns about the economy continue, according to a new WalletHub survey.

The survey found that 71% of respondents plan to spend less money on Halloween this year compared to last year.

Meanwhile, two in three people surveyed believe Halloween has become too expensive, while 38% of Americans say they have set a budget for the holiday.

Financial concerns extend beyond Halloween spending, with 44% of respondents describing their personal finances as a “horror show.”

The survey also found that 88% of respondents are fearful about the economy in general.
