HALL COUNTY, GA — Hall County has a new interim sheriff following the suspension of Sheriff Gerald Couch.
Major Chris Matthews will serve in the position during the 60-day suspension period.
Couch was arrested last month on a drunk driving charge.
Matthews has been with the sheriff’s office since 1984 and is the longest-serving sworn officer in the agency.
