Gwinnett Security guard shot eight times plans to give back to community

A security guard shot eight times last year at a Gwinnett County extended stay motel where he worked wants to give back to the residents who helped him.

Will Hudson was hospitalized for months after he was shot by one of the residents at the Norcross Extended Stay on Pelican Drive.

Xavier Geder pleaded guilty in June to attempted murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. He was sentenced to 60 years in prison.

Hudson has had 18 surgeries in the past 15 months and faces another one in two months.

Yet, he and his wife Michelle want to give back. They plan to pass out toys and gift cards to residents at the hotel on Christmas morning.

“They helped save his life. They helped get him to help. And they have families and there’s a lot of families in need,” she tells WSB’s Sandra Parrish.

This time last year, Will was still in a wheelchair when someone knocked on his door at 7am on Christmas day and presented the family with a trailer full of gifts as well as a washer and dryer.

“We just really want to give back to the community and give back to everybody who’s been giving back to us,” he says.

The family, including their two children and his parents, will pass out the gifts at 9am at the Wendy’s across the street from the hotel.

“On Christmas day before we do anything, we’re going down there and we’re going to bless families,” says Michelle.

They have set up a GoFundMe me page for anyone who want to contribute.
