Grayson High School student killed during robbery

A teenage boy is found dead in his home and Gwinnett County Police say he was shot to death during an apparent break-in.

Corporal Jake Smith, with the Gwinnett County Police Department says they received a call around 2:40 p.m. on Wednesday that a person had been shot at a residence at 2706 Haynescrest Drive, in Grayson.

A family member came home and found the male teenager, age 14, dead inside the home and police say he apparently died from a gunshot wound.

The case is being treated as a homicide because, "the preliminary investigation makes us think that this is not suicide and that it is not an accidental shooting.  It does appear, there is some evidence of a robbery actually having taken place," says Cpl. Smith.

The teenager was a student at Grayson High School.

"There's evidence of a robbery.  We don't know if this was something interrupted by the victim or if this was possibly someone lying in wait for the victim," says Cpl. Smith.

Gwinnett County Police haven't released the victim's name and say the investigation is ongoing.
