ATLANTA — Millions of Americans receiving SNAP benefits, including people in Georgia, will see a small increase beginning Thursday.
The maximum monthly benefit for a family of three in most states, including Georgia, will increase from $23 to $25.
States will also begin taking on a larger share of the administrative costs associated with SNAP.
Starting Oct. 1, states will be responsible for 75% of those costs, up from 50%.
Analysts warn the increased costs could put additional pressure on state budgets and potentially lead to fewer services for SNAP participants.
