Georgia school superintendent backs gas tax suspension over rising fuel costs

ATLANTA — Georgia’s school superintendent is among those supporting a suspension of the state’s gas tax as fuel prices continue to rise.

Superintendent Richard Woods says higher fuel costs are impacting school districts across the state, particularly because school buses rely on diesel.

He says parents, teachers and staff are also feeling the effects of higher gas prices.

Woods is urging the State Senate to follow the House’s lead and approve a 60-day suspension of the state’s gas tax.
