Forsyth County could extend pause on new apartments, townhomes and subdivisions

FORSYTH COUNTY, GA — The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners is expected to vote on whether to extend a moratorium on residential rezoning applications involving properties larger than one acre.

The moratorium has effectively halted new construction of apartments, townhomes and subdivisions in affected areas.

Commissioners who support extending the moratorium have raised concerns about the county’s rapid population growth and its impact on local schools and roads.

The commission is expected to decide whether to continue the restrictions on residential rezoning.
