CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA — A Cherokee County judge has sentenced a former rideshare driver to 25 years in prison after prosecutors say he sexually assaulted a teenager.

Jeremiah Norwood, 45, of Acworth, will not be eligible for parole, according to prosecutors.

In February 2022, officials say a 15-year-old girl reported that an Uber driver gave her drugs in exchange for sex after she requested a ride to a friend’s house in Canton.

Investigators later identified the driver as Norwood.

This is a developing story.
