COWETA COUNTY, GA — A former Coweta County deputy who spent decades in law enforcement is facing charges of child molestation and enticing a child following a five-count indictment in Georgia.
The grand jury alleges Mike McGuffey took a girl younger than 16 to a gas station and an area in the woods for sexual purposes between April 2019 and March 2020.
McGuffey’s most recent assignment was as a school resource officer at Smokey Road Middle School, according to officials.
His defense attorneys, Tom and Tim Cook, told WSB Radio they have “conducted an investigation which does not support the truth of the charges.”
The attorneys have filed a motion seeking to have McGuffey released on bond.
This is a developing story. Stay with WSB Radio News for updates.
