FBI sends U.S. Attorney evidence on Hunter Biden taxes, gun purchases

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) — CBS News reports that the Federal Bureau of Investigation has gathered what agents believe is sufficient evidence to charge Hunter Biden, the president’s son, with crimes relating to taxes and a false statement while purchasing a gun, according to sources familiar.

The U.S. Attorney’s office in Delaware has received the information. A spokesperson for the office declined to comment.

“As is properly and legally required, we believe the prosecutors in this case are diligently and thoroughly weighing not just evidence provided by agents, but also all the other witnesses in this case, including witnesses for the defense. That is the job of the prosecutors,” said Chris Clark, attorney for Hunter Biden.

Clark criticized the FBI in a statement given to CBS News, saying that a leak from grand jury proceedings would be a felony. He expects that “the Department of Justice will diligently investigate and prosecute.”

Prosecutors seem to have been reluctant to move on this case, as it has been open since 2019. Sources close to Hunter Biden indicate that his legal team believes that the bureau is trying to pressure them to act.

Mr. Biden has said he was not involved in the business dealings of his son, and there has been no evidence to contradict this. “I have not taken a penny from any foreign source, ever, in my life,” he said at a presidential debate in October 2020.
