2-year-old found dead in the woods

MARIETTA, GA — The family of a 2-year-old boy found dead in Marietta last week is speaking publicly for the first time and calling for justice in his death.

Messiah Harris was found hidden in the woods near an apartment complex off Ridge Run Road last week. He was just weeks away from turning 3.

“Messiah was just under three years old and he bought us an incredible amount of joy,” his aunt, Tiara Redding, said.

Redding described Messiah as a joyful child who loved playing and interacting with others.

“Everywhere he went he was a joy. He would talk to strangers he didn’t even know. They would love him, he played with anybody, he loves to play, he loves the playground,” Redding said.

The family had been looking forward to celebrating Messiah’s upcoming birthday.

“He had the biggest smile and the brightest eyes. His life was precious and his loss has left a hole in our families hearts,” Redding said.

Messiah’s mother’s boyfriend, Dairon Keith, is accused of concealing the boy’s death and making false statements after first reporting him missing.

“Messiah deserves justice and we trust that law enforcement will conduct a thorough and complete investigation to ensure full accountability for his death,” Redding said.

The family has established a GoFundMe campaign to help with basic living expenses.
