ATLANTA — Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines is banning humanoid robots from its flights, citing safety concerns over the devices’ lithium batteries, officials said.

Delta is among the first airlines to announce the policy, saying humanoid robots are not considered assistive devices like service animals.

United Airlines and Southwest Airlines have also announced similar bans this month.

Delta said it will continue reviewing and updating its policy as technology evolves.
