DEKALB COUNTY, GA — DeKalb County officials are investigating the death of an inmate at the DeKalb County Jail.

Officials said 73-year-old John Parazzo was found unresponsive Friday. He was later pronounced dead despite medical care from jail personnel and paramedics.

Officials are calling the death “a sudden and unanticipated medical emergency” and said they do not suspect foul play.

A cause of death has not been announced.

The investigation is ongoing.
