5 students hospitalized after crash involving school bus in metro Atlanta

DEKALB COUNTY, GA — Five high school students were hospitalized after a crash involving a school bus in metro Atlanta early Friday morning.

According to DeKalb County Schools officials, a vehicle ran a red light at the intersection of Fisher Trail and Briarcliff Road and made contact with a bus carrying 30 Lakeside High School students.

“Fortunately, there were no serious injuries, but five students were transported to nearby hospitals for further observation. The remaining students were transported to school on another bus,” DeKalb County officials said.

It is unclear if any charges have been filed.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
