SOUTH FULTON, GA — The City of South Fulton has named Chrissie Latimore as its new police chief, following the departure of the city’s previous chief earlier this year after being named in multiple lawsuits.
Latimore brings more than 25 years of law enforcement experience to the position, having served in local, state and federal law enforcement roles. Her background also includes service as a U.S. marshal and experience in military policing.
Dr. Cedric Alexander, the former DeKalb County public safety director who has been overseeing South Fulton’s public safety operations in the interim, expressed confidence in the city’s selection.
“I am more than confident that she’s going to do a tremendous job for this city. She’s going to take this city to the next level. We’re not going to look backwards, everything we do is up ahead,” Alexander said.
As she takes on her new role, Latimore says her first priority will be getting to know the community and understanding the needs of its residents.
“You cannot lead a community you haven’t taken the time to truly understand; and over the coming weeks I will be dedicated to doing exactly that,” Latimore said.
Latimore also shared a message with residents and local business owners about her plans for the department.
“To the residents, business owners, and stakeholders of this great city, my message is simple; I came here to help South Fulton reach its full potential,” Latimore said.
