DEKALB COUNTY, GA — A DeKalb County judge has dismissed charges against the man accused of opening fire inside the Decatur Public Library earlier this year.
The judge ruled that the shooter, identified as 44-year-old Medicus Brown, acted in self-defense after a dispute in February.
Brown was later indicted on charges of aggravated battery, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during a felony.
At an immunity hearing this month, five witnesses presented evidence in support of Brown’s claim he acted in self-defense.
The DeKalb County district attorney’s office does not plan to appeal the ruling, according to officials.
