Candidate calls for recount in NE Ga Senate race

Stacy Hall says he wants a recount: the Habersham County Commission Chairman lost last week’s Republican runoff by 34 votes out of the nearly 25,000 ballots cast in a northeast Georgia state Senate contest, losing to Bo Hatchett in the race to replace Stephens County Senator John Wilkinson. Wilkinson leaves the 50th District Senate seat after waging an unsuccessful campaign for Congress.

“I want to thank the 12,448 Northeast Georgians who cast their vote for me in the State Senate District 50 runoff. I remain grateful and humbled. With nearly 25,000 total votes cast and only 0.16% difference between the two candidates, it’s reasonable and prudent to request a recount so that all parties involved can be confident in the final count,” said Hall.

Hall’s recount request heads to the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office.
