Burglaries investigated in East Cobb

Cobb County Police say they're following up on leads but have yet to catch those responsible for a string of burglaries in the eastern part of the county.

Officer Mike Bowman tells the suspects are breaking into unlocked homes and cars either in the late evening hours or early morning hours.

On Monday, thieves broke into a house on Saints Court through an open garage.

"While inside the garage, a handgun was taken from an unlocked vehicle.  The perpetrators then made entry into an unlocked door in a house where they then took a laptop computer from the living area," said Bowman.

The residents were at home and were awakened by the door alarm but the suspects had gone by the time they went downstairs.

On that same night, another unlocked vehicle was burglarized at a second house in the neighborhood.

Two days later, the burglars struck again at a house around the corner on Ashforde Court and took a burglary and other items while the residents were asleep upstairs.

"And although we have increased the amount of patrols in that area and our criminal investigations unit is following up on a multitude of leads, we're asking that anyone observing any suspicious activities during late evening or early morning hours, please call 911," said Bowman.

Bowman says they're not sure but it appears to be the same suspect responsible since their method of operation is similar.

He advises everyone to lock their doors and cars.
