ATLANTA — A boil water advisory remains in effect Tuesday morning for several communities on the west side of metro Atlanta following a disruption at the Chattahoochee Water Treatment Plant.
In a statement, the Atlanta Department of Watershed Management urged residents and businesses in parts of South Fulton, Fairburn, Union City, Chattahoochee Hills and Palmetto to continue boiling their water.
The department says the advisory remains in place “out of an abundance of caution” following the disruption at the treatment plant.
Residents and businesses in the affected areas are advised to boil water before using it for drinking, cooking or brushing their teeth.
The advisory could be lifted Tuesday afternoon if water quality testing produces satisfactory results.
The Atlanta Department of Watershed Management continues to monitor water quality as the advisory remains in effect.
