Atlanta patients participated in trial for new pancreatic cancer drug

ATLANTA — Some patients in Georgia participated in a Phase 3 clinical trial for a newly approved pancreatic cancer drug at City of Hope Atlanta.

Dr. Kristen Higgins with City of Hope Atlanta says clinical trials play an important role in advancing cancer care and saving lives.

“Essentially doubled the survival for patients that took this drug compared to any other therapies that doctors would have recommended,” Higgins said.

Patients and physicians are calling the drug a breakthrough in the fight against pancreatic cancer.
