Arrest and Suspects ID'd in Gwinnett Jewelry Heists

Gwinnett County police have made an arrest in two violent jewelry store robberies that happened earlier this year.

Authorities say Terrence Talley is behind bars, but they are still looking for two other men.  Police say they have identifed those two additional suspects as Simone Simon and Nicholas Moss.  Talley has been charged with two counts of armed robbery and is currently in the Gwinnett County Detention Center.

In March, surveillance video showed the men storming into Tara Fine Jewelry in Buford, smashing the cases and stealing expensive watches. At least some of the robbers were armed. The video shows one man waving a silver gun, another had a small sledge hammer.

Corporal Jake Smith says it's common to see violence escalate the more times thieves strike.

"We see increasingly violent encounters sometimes, it's not surprising when that happens when someone is committing these armed robberies and not getting caught," said Smith.

Police say the same men robbed a Barron's Fine Jewelry in Snellville in February. The men got away with about $20,000 in merchandise from Barron's.

Buddy Anderson is the co-owner of Tara Fine Jewelry and he tells Channel 2 Action News his store suffered a much bigger loss, about $1 million.

"Tough thing when you go through that because you think, oh could it happen again," said Anderson.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities are still trying to identify a fourth man seen in the video and possibly additional suspects.  Police say they have only recovered a portion of the items stolen from the stores.
