ATLANTA — Police are investigating two separate crashes that left two pedestrians dead on Atlanta interstates about an hour apart.

The first crash happened on I-75/85 near University Avenue. Atlanta police said a man ran into traffic on the Downtown Connector and was hit by several vehicles.

About an hour later, a woman was hit and killed on I-75 near Cleveland Avenue after her car stopped working. Police said she pulled over on the side of the interstate and got out of her vehicle.

Another driver hit the woman and her car. She died at the scene.

Police said the driver involved in the second crash ran from the scene and has not been found. Officers are still searching for that suspect.

Both crashes caused portions of the interstate to be closed for hours.

The investigations remain ongoing.
