NEWNAN, GA — A 14-year-old girl was taken to an Atlanta-area hospital after Newnan police say she was hit in the head with a golf club Monday evening.

The attack happened on Ball Street, where police were called shortly before 6:40 p.m. after someone reported an assault involving injuries.

Investigators say the teenager was injured during a physical altercation. She was transported to the hospital for treatment following the incident.

Several people have since been arrested in the case, according to Newnan police. The department’s Criminal Investigation Unit is handling the investigation.

Police have not released additional information about the arrests.
