DOUGLASVILLE, GA — A 10-year-old girl is recovering from serious injuries after she was hit by an SUV in Douglasville Monday evening.

The Georgia State Patrol says the crash happened just before 6 p.m. in the 3300 block of West Stewarts Mill Road, just off Bill Arp Road.

According to GSP, the girl was with a group of children walking along the shoulder on the south side of the road when the children said a dog ran toward them.

The girl ran into the roadway and was hit by a Nissan Murano traveling east, according to GSP.

She was airlifted to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta with serious injuries.
