Gwinnett nurse tased for obstructing police

A Lawrenceville nurse was tased, after quarreling with police.

Marthe Bien-Aime works at the Summit Ridge psychiatric hospital, where investigators arrived Sunday to look into a patient's sex assault claim against another patient.

"They met with hospital staff and informed them that they had the warrant for the individual's arrest and asked to be guided back," Maj. Paul King of the Lawrenceville Police Department told Channel 2 Action News.

But Bien-Aime was not going to let that happen, police said.

According to the police report Bien-Aime said, "hell no I won't.” She also told them, “This is not happening while I am in charge” and that she "took an oath to protect."

A fracas followed and police tased the nurse's backside.

"We heard a nurse screaming. We heard police scrambling around making a lot of noise," said the former patient, who asked not to be identified.

"Once they tried to place her in custody she began flailing her arms. At one point she went to the floor," King said

Bien-Aime brother says her sister was just following hospital policy by not letting police in the patient’s room.

She is charged her with obstruction. The accused patient was arrested, too.
