The above ECMWF Model forecast simulated satellite and surface pressure pattern shows the next BIG weather maker heading our way this weekend.
First we get a warming trend into Saturday with above-normal temperatures returning, briefly. A few light showers expected Thursday with the approach of a weak front rain amounts averaging only around a tenth of an inch or so.
Then scattered showers likely at times on Saturday, more widespread rain at night and a rumble of thunder not out of the question.
Rain amounts Saturday into early Sunday morning averaging around half an inch.

As that surface low pressure system and strong cold front sweep through turning into a Nor’easter snow and ice storm for the Midwest and Northeast states it drags down a high pressure polar air mass into early next week:
It comes in on strong gusty winds making the temperature drop and wind chill factor the big story.
Sunday NW winds of 20-30 MPH will add a bite to the air into MLK Day Monday.
