The Metro Atlanta area has endured 70+ days with temperatures at or above 90 degrees, BUT cooler temperatures will arrive soon!
Afternoon highs will continue to climb into the low 90s for Monday and Tuesday, and a few pop up storms are to be expected with the heating of the afternoons.
However, a surface low will develop off the coast of New England later this week. As the low moves west towards New England, the low will push, or “wedge” colder air against the Appalachian Mountains.
As a result, cooler air will drift south along the mountain chain and arrive in Metro Atlanta as early as Wednesday.
Rejoice in afternoon temperatures cooling down into the 70s through the end of this week!
Mornings will feel like “sweater weather” as thermometers dip into the upper 50s to low 60s through weekend.
