Off and on rain showers possible during the Braves game, heavy rain arrives overnight

Scattered showers are in the forecast this afternoon, though it won’t rain for the entirety of the day.

For the first time in three weeks, rain has finally moved into the Metro Atlanta area!

A few spotty showers have produced as much as 0.01″ - 0.05″ of rain in the Metro, and more rain is on the way today as a cold front swings through the Southeast United States.

Warm, humid air moving into the region ahead of the cold front is allowing spotty off and on rain showers to develop in the region. These spotty showers will be traveling from the southwest to the northeast, and they will be moderately heavy at times through the afternoon.

Some of these showers may drift over Truist Park throughout the day, potentially impacting the Braves Game this afternoon. A complete rainout is not expected, but a rain delay cannot be ruled out.

Cloudy skies, off and on rain showers, and a southeast breeze will keep temperatures in the low to mid 70s throughout the game. In addition to a rain poncho, packing a light jacket or sweatshirt may be a good idea for cool-natured individuals.

Late tonight and early into Thursday morning, a line of heavy rain and thunderstorms will roll through North Georgia and Metro Atlanta. These storms will produce heavy rain, but they will quickly move in and out of the region -- as a result, forecast rainfall totals will only add up to 0.5″ to 1″ through early Thursday morning.

Rain showers will exit Metro Atlanta by 9am Thursday morning, and Thursday afternoon will be breezy, cool and dry with afternoon highs in the low 70s.
